Ford County (Large Print)

Fans of #1 New York Times bestselling author John Grisham will be thrilled that in Ford County, he returns to the setting for his immensely popular first novel, A Time to Kill, with a collection of compelling stories.

The page turning begins with “Blood Drive,” where three unreliable young men head for Memphis to help a friend in need…with some unexpected results. In “Fetching Raymond,” a mother faces the possibility that her youngest son’s prison stay may be coming to the horrifying end she’d never believed possible.

Whether it’s the tale of a hard-luck lawyer who gets the case that can change his life or the story of a local swindler who finally gets his comeuppance, Grisham’s return to Ford County has been worth the wait.

This book was not at all what I expected from John Grisham, after reading all his previous books. I did enjoy it, however not nearly as much as the others. Debbie

Won't Recommend

Have always enjoyed Grisham novels and since this was going back to Ford County was looking forward to reading it. Was very disappointed. Can honestly say I would not recommend it to fellow readers. Lacked alot think he should stick to what he does best and forget the short stories.

I enjoyed this book. I like short stories anyway. Maybe you have to live in the south to enjoy this. There are actual events like this. Particularly liked Fetching Raymond which has about as final an ending as you can get.

Pass on this One

If you're considering purchasing "Ford County" because you enjoyed Grisham's "The Last Juror," "Pelican Brief," or "The Broker," don't bother. Grisham became a noted author because of his interesting, suspense filled plots that were full of twists and turns and well-developed characters who were capable of all kinds of mischief. "Ford County," in comparison, is about obviously dumb people doing dumb things. There is minimal character or plot development, and as other reviewers have noted, the stories just end. I only made it through the first two chapters before I determined I had better things to read.
