Single mother Susan Tate is proud of how well she’s raised 17-year-old Lily while carrying out her duties as high school principal. But Susan’s carefully constructed world is shattered the day Lily announces she is pregnant. Before the shock can wear off, Susan learns of two more pregnancies—Lily’s best friends! With this news, talk of a pact rushes through town and criticism finds its way to the mothers, particularly Susan. Is she fit to preside over impressionable children? Despite calls for her resignation, Susan is more troubled that the other girls’ mothers, her friends, haven’t come to her defense.

This allows the reader insight into a rising problem amont teens, their vulnerability to be part of the "in crowd". Including the Mother's lifestyle, it shows that she is a role model for her daughter. There is no mention of God - that I found anyway - of the mother nor daughter seeking guidance, etc. It is commendable that the young fathers-to-be wanted to be involved in the lives of their children. The school officials bent to pressure as much as the girls did to peer pressure.

I have always been a fan of Ms. Delinsky and have read all her books. I found this one very current of a problem facing a lot of high schools and it raises all the debate over who is responsible, parents or the school. It definitely lets you see every side of the issue.

I loved this book. It was hard for me to put it down. I felt like I was in a group therapy session as I got to see inside this wonderfully portrayed main character's mind and soul. I enjoy a book that makes me think, makes me review my own life, choices and experiences. Thank you Barbara Delinsky for offering us meat when so many books only offer "fluff"!

I really enjoyed this book. It gives a very good perspective on teen pregnancy from a teen and a mother's point of view. Even though this book seem to evolve slowly, I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed the fact that while you are reading it, you really don't know what to expect next. I recomend it to every mother and teen daughter I know.
