As Karen Robards’ thriller, Shattered, opens, attorney Lisa Grant is working as a research assistant to D.A. Scott Buchanan, whom she thinks is even sexier now than when they were both younger…and far more infuriating. Lisa is not happy she’s been relegated to reviewing cold cases, and less so when in a file on a family that disappeared years ago she sees a photo that sends a chill down her spine: the mother could be Lisa’s double. But before she can question her ailing mother, the file is lost in a suspicious fire, Lisa is assaulted, and, to her astonishment, Scott becomes protective. Does this mean they may have a future together? It does, if he can help Lisa uncover a past she never knew…and save her from a killer she does.

I had expected this to be just another light summer read, but I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are not only likeable, but have some depth to them. And the plot thickens everytime you turn a page. Highly recommended!
