Paradise is hell for Jesse Stone
After his stint in rehab, Chief of Police Jesse Stone’s road to recovery is made bumpy by a series of apparently racially motivated crimes, beginning with the murder of an African American woman. Then, Jesse’s deputy, Alisha—the first black woman hired by the Paradise, MA, police force—becomes the target of a sophisticated frame-up. Stone has to wonder if this is just one part of a grander plot, with an endgame more destructive than he can imagine.
At the same time, young Cole Slayton rolls into town with a chip on his shoulder and a problem with authority—namely, Jesse. Something about the angry 20-something appeals to Jesse, and he takes Cole under his wing. But his secrets may change Jesse’s life forever.
